Michael McCarthy is an internationally recognized Yoga Teacher, Thai Massage Therapist, Healer and Spiritual Guide. Through his teaching of yoga, Thai healing, pranic energy and meditation, Michael cultivates a space of growth, inner connection and wisdom empowering his students. Offering a transformative practice, he builds strong asanas and focused pranayama breath, drawing from his deep and diverse areas of study and practice.

Michael completed an intensive Therapeutic Massage training in the United States in 2007 and quickly established a strong client base and reputation for being an amazing massage therapist, creating a space where people can better understand and connect with their own physical and spiritual energy. His spiritual journey has taken him to Thailand many times, studying Yoga, Thai Massage, Tok Sen, Buddhist meditation, Thai Acupressure, Tantra, and energy balancing techniques, spending hundreds of hours studying under the guidance of widely known Thai Healing Masters in Chiang Mai including Chongkol Setthakorn, Paul Butte and Adjan Nat.

After returning to the United States, Michael completed Yoga Teacher Training with the oldest program in the Midwest and began to incorporate Thai Healing Theory into a Yoga format, teaching Yoga, Thai-Yin, Thai Yoga Adjustments and Thai Massage courses at studios, conferences and yoga retreats throughout the United States. Michael’s training in Ashtanga served as the foundation for his strong teaching of Vinyasa, Yin, Pranayama, Meditation and Chakra Balancing.

Michael was a main presenter at Wanderlust Tahoe in 2012, a one-of-a-kind festival bringing together the world’s leading yoga teachers and renowned speakers. He is widely known as a Yoga Teacher bringing deep self-connection to his students. As a Postural Adjustments Specialist, he deepens the yoga practice with Thai Yoga adjustments, empowering students to fully feel the power of the practice. Michael holds certifications in Yoga Teaching, Therapeutic Massage, Thai Massage, Thai Acupressure and Energy Healing, and continues to study with Master Teachers around the world, deepening his teachings of the holistic, peaceful and balanced fusion of Thai Massage, Yoga and Energy Work.

Michael’s mission is to spread ancient eastern philosophies, serving as a guide to help his students achieve self-realization and self-acceptance through the practice of yoga. This 2 hour workshop offers the yoga practitioner a fully holistic and powerful class, combining the physically challenging postures of vinyasa, the restorative healing postures of yin, deep thai massage adjustments, pranayama and Ujjayi breathing techniques and the stillness of meditation.

In this 2 day, 16 hour intensive, you will learn how to connect with your students and clients on a deeper level by tapping into the power of asana, a meditative mind and energy lines. Learn meaningful adjustment techniques that help deepen physical postures and use Thai massage to open the body and mind, promoting healing and relaxation. This class covers 5 types of yoga adjustments, hands on yin and yang Yoga adjustments, a formula for yoga assistance and alignment. Create a safe environment for the receiver of these adjustments and take your private sessions to the next level by addressing physical issues through manual manipulation. This intensive is designed for yoga instructors, yoga practitioners, bodyworkers and anyone interested in exploring the benefits of assisted stretches.

*This is a 2 day, 16 hour intensive where you will learn the hands on techniques, be provided with a workbook, and receive certification.

Thai Massage is a part of the ancient Thai healing system developed over 2500 years ago and uses a combination of Pranayama breathing techniques, Thai yoga stretches and rhythmic compression to achieve comprehensive, holistic and healing bodywork. In this 3 day, 30 hour intensive, you will learn a 2 hour Thai Massage flow from start to finish. This class covers puja, intuitive healing, assisted yoga stretches, acupressure points, reflexology, compressions, anatomy and 10 major Sen energy lines focused on during Thai Massage. Whether you are a massage therapist, yoga teacher or lover of bodywork, this course will deepen your understanding of the body and the people you connect with daily.

*This is a 3 day, 30 hour intensive where you will learn the hands on techniques, be provided with a workbook, and receive a Thai Massage certification.

Each studio has its own unique student base with a wide variety of different workshop interests and needs. I offer customizable packages, where I work closely with the studio owner, developing a workshop that best fits the needs of students. Full integration of Thai Massage, yoga, meditation, breath work along with providing hands on training segments in the workshop.

Stress reduction/gentle yoga – designed for anyone and everyone. It does not require any previous training, and people of all fitness levels will benefit. The focus is on relaxation techniques including gentle yoga poses, the connection of mind and body, practicing mindfulness, conscious pranayama breathing and silence which leads to stillness.

Stress reduction/slow flow yoga – designed for employees who are looking for stress reduction with a moderately physically challenging edge. The core focus is on learning the fundamental postures of yoga to relieve  the mind and body of stress.

Get your body back in balance! This effective form of massage therapy is over 2,500 years old. It incorporates assisted Hatha Yoga techniques, acupressure, reflexology and compressions. Thai massage corrects body posture and realignment, while creating a peace of mind through a meditative state. Nuad Bo-Ran, is performed on a soft floor-mat, while the client is fully clothed in loose, comfortable clothes. No oils are used in Thai massage.
